CMS Migration

Migrate Wix to WordPress

Out of limitations – into freedom

Wix was good for the start. But now you need more flexibility, better SEO and full control. I migrate your website professionally to WordPress – without data loss, without ranking losses.

Why many want to leave Wix

You probably know these problems

Limited functions

At some point you hit limits. Special features? Only with expensive premium apps or not at all.

SEO limitations

Wix does basic SEO, but important options are missing for serious search engine optimisation.

Loading time issues

Wix sites are often slower than necessary. This costs rankings and conversions.

Vendor lock-in

Your data belongs to Wix. Export is tedious to impossible. You are dependent on the provider.

Rising costs

Premium plans are getting more expensive, and you pay extra for every additional function.

No code access

Individual customisations? Custom code? Heavily restricted with Wix.

Wix vs. WordPress comparison

Wix

  • Closed system
  • Limited SEO options
  • Slow loading times
  • No data export
  • Dependent on Wix servers
  • Limited extensibility

WordPress

  • Open Source – your data belongs to you
  • Full SEO control (Yoast, RankMath)
  • Optimisable performance
  • Exportable at any time
  • Hosting freely selectable
  • 60,000+ plugins available

4

URL structure, 301 redirects, meta data – so you don't lose any rankings.

5

Comprehensive testing on all devices. You review and give feedback.

Frequently asked questions about Wix migration

Depending on the size of the website between 1-3 weeks. A simple website with 10 pages can be migrated in about one week. Larger projects with a shop or lots of content take correspondingly longer. During the migration your Wix site stays online – there is no downtime.

No, if the migration is done professionally. I set up 301 redirects from all old URLs to the new ones and take over your SEO data (titles, meta descriptions). Google recognises the new site as the successor. In many cases rankings even improve because WordPress offers better SEO options.

Not directly technically, as Wix uses proprietary templates. But I can select or customise a WordPress theme that looks very similar to your previous design. Often migration is also a good opportunity to modernise the design.

Wix shops are migrated to WooCommerce. Products, categories, images and descriptions are transferred. Order history can be partially exported. Payment providers need to be set up again (Stripe, PayPal etc.).

WordPress is user-friendly. You can change texts and images yourself – similar to Wix. For technical maintenance (updates, backups, security) I offer optional maintenance contracts so you don't have to worry about it.

WordPress itself is free. You only pay for hosting (from about CHF 10-20/month for good Swiss hosting) and optionally for premium plugins or themes. In the long run, WordPress is often cheaper than Wix premium plans, with significantly more possibilities.

Yes, the process is similar. These website builder systems all have comparable limitations. I also migrate from Jimdo, Squarespace, Weebly and other website builders to WordPress.
