The Problem

Why a Migration Is Necessary

Security Risks

Old Joomla versions no longer receive security updates. That is dangerous.

Incompatible Extensions

Many extensions no longer work with new PHP versions or Joomla 5.

Slow Performance

Old Joomla setups are often slow. Modern versions are significantly faster.

Outdated Technology

PHP 7.x support is ending. Hosting providers are forcing you to migrate – better now than under pressure.

My Services

Migration That Works

Two options: update Joomla or switch CMS. I advise neutrally.

CMS Expert with Migration Experience

I know Joomla from the inside. This helps to migrate even complex setups cleanly – whether upgrade or platform switch.

The decision "stay with Joomla or switch" is made together, based on your requirements.

  • Joomla 3/4 → 5 Migration
  • Switch to WordPress/TYPO3
  • Complete data transfer

Upgrade to Joomla 5

Want to stay with Joomla? Then upgrading to Joomla 5 is the right choice. I migrate cleanly and ensure compatibility.

  • PHP 8.x Compatibility – Future-proof
  • Extension Check – What still works?
  • Template Adjustment – For Joomla 5
  • Staging Server – Test first, then go live

CMS Switch to WordPress
CMS Switch

To WordPress or TYPO3

Sometimes switching CMS makes more sense than an upgrade. I migrate all content cleanly to the new system.

  • Content Migration – Texts, images, structure
  • URL Redirects – SEO preserved
  • New Design – Modern and responsive
  • Training – You learn the new CMS
Data Safety

No Data Loss

The most important thing in any migration: all data must be preserved. I work with backups and staging servers.

  • Complete Backups – Before every step
  • Staging Environment – Test everything
  • Rollback Option – If needed
  • Documentation – Everything traceable

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about Joomla Migration

Is it worth upgrading to Joomla 5?
It depends on your situation. If your team is used to Joomla and the extensions are compatible, yes. If you are already dissatisfied, switching to WordPress might make more sense.
Will my extensions work after the migration?
I check this in advance. Many extensions have Joomla 5 versions, some do not. For missing ones there are often alternatives. You will receive a clear overview before the migration.
How long does a Joomla migration take?
A simple upgrade: 1–2 weeks. A complete CMS switch: 2–4 weeks. Complex setups take correspondingly longer. You will receive a realistic schedule.
Will my Google rankings be preserved?
With a correct migration, yes. I set up 301 redirects, transfer meta data and update the sitemap. Google recognises the continuity.
What happens to my Joomla template?
Joomla templates are not automatically compatible with Joomla 5. Sometimes there are updates, sometimes adjustments or a new template are needed.
Can I continue working normally during the migration?
Yes. I work on a separate staging server. Your live site remains unchanged until the migration is complete.
