Yes, but for outdated versions (v9 or older) I usually recommend an upgrade. Maintaining old versions is more complex and security risks exist. An upgrade to v12 or v13 is often the better solution.
Before every update I create a complete backup. All updates are first tested on a staging environment. If problems arise, I can roll back within minutes.
