As a freelance full-stack web developer, I continuously work on a wide range of projects – from custom web applications to specialised plugins and complete system solutions.

Since I am constantly implementing new developments, it would neither be practical nor possible to document every single update or small adjustment here as a reference.

This reference overview therefore contains only selected projects where I have implemented my own plugins, custom extensions or complete software solutions.

WordPress Plugin Entwicklung

When are standard plugins enough – and when are they not?

The WordPress plugin directory offers over 60,000 plugins. Sounds great – but it carries significant risks that many underestimate.

Standard plugins are often the quickest way to activate a function. But with every plugin installed comes a risk: plugins are developed and maintained by third parties – or not maintained at all. Many popular plugins have not been updated for years, contain known security vulnerabilities or bring hundreds of lines of code that you do not need at all.

The four biggest risks with standard plugins:

  • Security: Publicly known vulnerabilities in widely used plugins are a popular attack target – as soon as a vulnerability is known, thousands of websites are scanned.
  • Conflicts: Multiple plugins can influence each other and lead to malfunctions, data loss or crashes.
  • Performance: Many plugins load their own CSS/JS files, add database queries and measurably slow down the website.
  • Abandonware: A plugin that is no longer actively developed is a security risk – even if it still "works".

What I implement in WordPress plugin development

From idea to finished plugin – cleanly developed, documented and maintainable.

Custom plugins

I develop WordPress plugins from scratch – according to your requirements, WordPress Coding Standards and without unnecessary code bloat. The plugin belongs to you completely.

Plugin customisations

If an existing plugin almost does what you need, I adapt it. With hooks, filters and child plugins, customisations remain update-safe.

Plugin migration

You want to replace an old, no longer maintained plugin? I migrate the functionality into a custom, lean solution – with complete data transfer.

Plugin audit

I review your installed plugins for security vulnerabilities, outdated dependencies and performance issues – with concrete recommendations for action.

Frequently asked questions about WordPress plugins

Why a custom plugin instead of one from the plugin directory?
Ready-made plugins often cover only 80% of your requirements and bring unnecessary code. A bespoke plugin is leaner, faster and contains exactly the features you need.
Can I extend the plugin myself later?
I deliver cleanly documented code with inline comments. You can make small adjustments yourself. For larger extensions I am of course available.
How is the plugin installed and activated?
I deliver the plugin as a ZIP file that you can upload in the WordPress backend. Alternatively I install it directly on your server. Installation and configuration instructions are always included.
Does the plugin also work with Multisite?
Yes, upon request I develop plugins that support WordPress Multisite. The plugin can be activated network-wide or per sub-site – depending on requirements.
What if I no longer need the plugin?
The plugin belongs to you completely. You can deactivate or delete it at any time. It leaves no unnecessary data if you carry out the uninstallation cleanly.
