OXID eShop: Strengths and challenges
OXID eShop has been a fixture in German-speaking e-commerce for over two decades. The platform was developed from the start for the German market and covers complex requirements that other systems often have to add later via expensive plugins: multilingual shops, customer groups with individual price lists, flexible discount systems and deep ERP connections are standard in OXID. Particularly in the B2B sector, OXID impresses with mature functions for business customer portals that are only achievable with considerable additional effort in WooCommerce or Shopware.
The challenges, on the other hand, lie in complexity: OXID requires deep technical know-how for installation, module development and updates. The ecosystem is smaller than with Shopware or WooCommerce, which means many extensions need to be developed individually.
