Alternative: migration to a modern shop system
If your osCommerce shop is very outdated, migrating to a modern system may make more sense:
Modernise or replace osCommerce?
osCommerce is one of the oldest open-source shop systems of all – it appeared in 2000 and was one of the most widely used e-commerce platforms in the world for over a decade. Nevertheless, thousands of shops still run on this outdated basis today, often with PHP versions that have not been supported for years. This brings considerable risks: security vulnerabilities are no longer closed, payment providers discontinue compatibility, and many hosting providers are ending support for old PHP versions.
Typical problems I encounter with osCommerce shops are outdated PHP versions (4.x or 5.x), missing responsive design, problems with modern payment providers and inadequate security. Depending on the state of the shop, there are two sensible paths: either targeted modernisation of the existing system – PHP update, responsive theme, new payment methods – or a complete migration to a modern shop system such as WooCommerce or Shopware. Together we analyse your shop and decide which path makes more economic sense for you.

Migration from osCommerce: What is transferred?
When migrating to WooCommerce, Shopware or another modern system, I ensure all important data is fully transferred:
- Products & categories – including descriptions, images and variants
- Customer data – addresses, credentials and customer groups
- Order history – all previous orders with status information
- SEO URLs – redirects are set up so your Google rankings are preserved
- Payment methods – integration of current providers such as Stripe, Payrexx or Saferpay
