How does AI integration into existing systems work?

At its core it works via REST API calls: your PHP backend sends a request to the API of Claude, OpenAI or Gemini, receives a response in JSON format and processes it directly. No model training, no GPU servers, no data science department required.
Whether you use CodeIgniter, Laravel or another PHP framework – the AI APIs fit in seamlessly. A cron job reads new emails, sends the content to the API and writes the result to your database. A webhook receives a form, has it analysed by the model and forwards the summary to your CRM. The basic principle is always the same: send input, receive structured output, process further.
